Bucket Boys

Bucket boys, every barn has them right? I have a friend who years ago had a boyfriend who whenever she needed anything at the barn or at a show would say “Oh bucket boy!” and he would running with a bucket full of supplies to do whatever she needed.  A bucket boy is basically some what of a groom but he is paid with extra time to spend with a pretty girl.  She eventually married him.

One of the girls at the barn Kristen, her boyfriend is always with her at the barn.  Whenever she needs to get her horse groomed quickly or needs help picking up some manure she calls out to her bucket boy.  I even borrow him sometimes to lift something heavy or hold a horse with a beginner rider when I have to run and get something.  He’s always happy to be there, and we enjoy having him around.

Bucket boys are great, I had my “Bucket Dad” growing up and he was always great too. For Christmas one year we bought him a mug that said “Hor$e $how Dad”.  Bucket Dads are great because they foot the bill.  Bucket boys and Dads are sometimes under appreciated but they always seem to enjoy their job so that they be with the horsey girls in their life.  The job does have its perks!

Who’s your favorite bucket boy?
