Meet Redford our New Horse

I picture Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) saying “He’s a beauty!”  So far he is doing wonderful and we are so pleased with how quickly he is learning.   He’s the first horse who posed on his own for a picture.  Usually they flop their ears around, but he perked them straight forward without any coaching from me.

.

Right now, we are trying to get him balanced on the longe line.  He’s inching along, doing pretty well.  We are not even going to ride him for two more weeks.  He’s pretty out of shape, so we gave him the day off yesterday to rest.  He can’t hardly carry his own weight right now, let alone that of a rider.  But, he should get into shape pretty quickly.

I didn’t get my video camera, so I only have pictures at them moment, but stay tuned for more progress!

In the top photo, he looks like he has a huge chest! Not a wimp at all. LOL I’d say he travels pretty straight, and is relaxed on the long line. Good choice, Deanna! He’s a nice lookin’ boy.

Thanks Theresa! He does have a huge chest, I can’t wait to build some muscle on it. He is pretty straight, I can’t wait until I can get on him and see how he feels. I’m not used to being up so high…
